Franziska Windolf

About

Franziska Windolf (b.1992) works and lives in Munich.

I am an artist working with sculptures, textiles, graphics, and public space interventions. My recent projects include commemorative architecture, mappings, and wearable art. I create complex collaborative and dynamic settings in public spaces, inviting people to explore societal questions from multiple perspectives. Often, I use humor and playfulness to engage with challenging topics, creating shared moments of joy and connection. My starting point for new work is a concept-driven exploration of formats that activate and animate objects, both literally and metaphorically. By combining manufactured objects, historical and archival images, and text, my work explores their journeys and cultural significance in changing environments and contexts, underlining silenced and marginalized aspects in the narrative. Scripted dialogue between local performers, the audience, and myself provides entry points into the associative research that underpins my making.
