Franziska Windolf

About

Franziska Windolf (b.1992) works and lives in Munich.

Franziska Windolf is an artist working with sculptures, textiles, graphics, and public space interventions. The starting point for new work is often a concept-driven exploration of formats that activate and animate objects, both literally and metaphorically. Recent projects include commemorative architecture, mappings, and wearable art. By combining manufactured objects, historical and archival images, and text, the work explores their journeys and cultural significance in changing environments and contexts, underlining silenced and marginalized aspects in the narrative. Scripted dialogue between the artist, local performers, and the audience is a strategy to provide entry points into the associative research that underpins the making. The artist creates collaborative and dynamic settings in public spaces, inviting people to explore societal questions from multiple perspectives. She often uses humor and playfulness to engage with complex issues, creating shared moments of joy and connection.
